Before Calling: Information Checklist

To ensure a smooth and efficient booking process, please have the following information ready before you call. This will help us serve you better and provide the best possible service.

Guidelines

  • 1

    Scheduling

Ventura Transit requires booking at least 2 business days from the date and time of the appointment in advance to schedule a ride. Please ensure that the destination is accepted by the insurance provider

  • 2

    Member Consent

Due to privacy regulations, our representatives must obtain consent from members before permitting anyone else to schedule appointments on their behalf. This measure ensures that your personal information are protected and that only authorized individuals can make decisions regarding your appointments.

  • 3

    Service Areas

CenCal provides support for rides within their service areas (Santa Barbara County & San Luis Obispo County). If you need to travel outside these areas, please call our customer service hotline to allow our representatives sufficient time to process your request for insurance approval.

  • 4

    Authorizations

Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NMT) AND Non-Medical Emergency Transportation (NEMT)

If you have a medical condition that necessitates door-to-door assistance or any other type of support, please contact us in advance to obtain the necessary approval. This will ensure we can provide you with the appropriate accommodations and assistance during your visit.

  • What is a Non-Emergency Medical Transportation?

People who need extra assistance and a specialized vehicle for transport to and from medical appointments use Nonemergency Medical Transportation (NEMT).

NEMT should be used under the following circumstances:

  • When you require assistance from the driver due to a physical or mental disability for travel to and from your home.
  • When your medical appointment is covered by CenCal.
  • When you have obtained written approval from your healthcare provider.
  • What is a Non-Medical Transportation?

People who can ride in a car, taxi or bus use Nonmedical Transportation (NMT) to get to their medical appointments. You should use NMT when you don't need to travel in a specialized vehicle.

You can utilize NMT for Medi-Cal covered services including:

  • Medical, dental, and mental health services.
  • Substance use disorder services.
  • Support group meetings.
  • What is a Discharge?

Discharge is the process of formally releasing a patient from a hospital or healthcare facility after they have received necessary medical treatment.

Healthcare Providers who are looking to schedule a discharge, please call 855-659-4600 and follow the prompt.
